Did you know that chiropractors are the largest group of licensed natural health providers? It’s also the only healthcare system born in the USA.
Today, I hope to give you some more understanding of how the brain and chiropractic work to improve your life.
You always exist in an augmented reality. Everything you see, hear, feel, or smell is a perception by your brain. Your brain interprets all the data it receives and compares it to your past experiences and its expectations. Your brain can even fill in gaps of knowledge.
Here is an example. Try and read this.
Haetlh is a poirrtiy. It is yuor nembur one asest. Yuor biarn can slitl raed this eevn wtih scarlebmd lrettes. It is aiazmng at fniillg in the deliats.
You might be thinking “that’s cool”, but how does that make chiropractic so valuable. We need to first understand that the brain is dependent on getting constant feedback from your nerves to make good judgements.
That can be about how fast a car is moving, where you are going to step or how you are going to stabilize your body when you lift your arms. Everything you do is dependent on this feedback.
This is where chiropractic becomes amazingly helpful. The university of Colorado in Boulder did a study on the spine. These were PhD’s not chiropractors. They found that the pressure equivalent to the weight of a nickel can disrupt the spinal nerve flow by up to 60%.
These spinal disruptions can be from injuries such a small car accident or even sitting at a desk for years. These joints are often very stiff, but they can also be hypermobile from injuries to the ligaments. The problem is that if these joints don’t move properly they can’t send accurate information to your brain.
Where it gets even better is that your brain uses the spine as it’s first source of information. Dysfunctions in the spine actually change how the brain perceives ALL sensory input. For you to move your arm or leg, your brain must first calculate the position of your spine.
These dysfunctions can set you up for a number of problems. You might stumble more, or hit your elbow on a door frame you didn’t notice.
For now, just remember that problems in your spine can mess with your brain and the way you perceive reality and all other sensations, including pain.
